West Midlands manufacturers, component suppliers, specialist subcontractors and service providers are being urged to pre-register and sign-up for the chance to attend a series of free networking events, meet the buyer sessions and business growth workshops.
Businesses can stay right up to date with the project timelines, latest supply chain insights and hear about business opportunities being generated by the construction of a new £60m 2022 Aquatic Centre and state-of-the-art leisure facility in Smethwick.
The eyes of the construction world (and its media) will be on Sandwell later this summer when it formally unveils the development plans, designs and supply chain requirements needed to win work on this prestigious project.
The principle design team, main contractor, top-tier suppliers and hundreds of representatives from West Midlands businesses will converge on Sandwell Council house in Oldbury for a series of project kick-start breakfast meetings, networking sessions, showcase exhibitions, CPD’s and skills development workshops being organised by Sandwell Council, in conjunction with BIDsmarter.
One of the main aims of the event(s) are to show local SMEs the business opportunities being generated by the construction of the £60m Aquatics Centre, Olympic-sized swimming pool and fitness suite. This could mean anything from the supply of building materials, landscaping, crowd-control barriers, signage, scaffolding and spectator seating through to water filtration equipment, specialist plant room, lighting, internal-fit-outs, changing room cubicles and lockers. The business and supply chain potential is HUGE. - Read more about the Aquatics Centre on this link
The format, dates and timings of the project kick-start sessions are still in the planning stage, however, in the lead up to the event(s), we hope that as many of the region’s businesses as possible will express an early interest to attend what promises to be an exciting and innovative series of summer events celebrating the very best of what the West Midlands business community has to offer to this iconic project.”
