In Detail

Plans to create a multi-million pound business and innovation Enterprise Zone in Brierley Hill has been given the green light by Dudley Council.

Thousands of jobs are set to be created by the development, which will be run by the council in partnership with the Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership and West Midlands Combined Authority.

Located near Merry Hill Shopping Centre, DY5 - Dudley’s Business and Innovation Enterprise Zone, is designed to become the high-tech office hub of the Black Country’s industry, connecting advanced manufacturing to industrial sites via a new Metro link to Birmingham.

It’s also anticipated that the site will help rejuvenate the Waterfront office complex at Merry Hill by creating additional office, technology and industrial space in Brierley Hill, Harts Hill and Pensnett, delivering up to 7,000 new jobs and boosting the local economy by £589million each year.

As well as reoccupying 18,000 m2 of vacant office space on the Waterfront, the zone, when fully built, will include up to 110,000 m2 of new office, 36,000 m2 of new technology and 65,000 m2 of new industrial space.
