With a training facility at the Science Park and another at the Custard Factory in Birmingham, Gecko provides FREE OF CHARGE training to company employees and to those looking for work.
From a business start-up in 2007 in Wolverhampton University’s Science Park incubation centre, Gecko Programmes has developed its offer of services to Black Country and Birmingham businesses, and along the way has become one of the UK’s largest contractors to the EU’s Erasmus Plus Programme, with an impact on business and people across the Black Country.
It has been a success story for this business, and the businesses and people that Gecko has reached. For the last three years, Gecko has been in the position to offer a package to businesses; having identified the training needs your organisation has to achieve business goals, Gecko can deliver training to owners, managers and staff, and also introduce new employees whom Gecko has also trained. And this complete package is free of charge.
Skills Support for the Workforce
Currently, Gecko has a government contract (Skills Support for the Workforce) to design and deliver free of charge training to businesses in the Black Country, prioritising business services, the creative sector and visitor economy. The aim of this is to support local business to achieve their business goals by developing skills within the company.
Skills Support for Redundancy
And to retain skills in the region, Gecko also has another government contract (Skills Support for Redundancy), that equips us to initially support business making redundancies at the current workplace, or to support the individuals who have lost their jobs.
For Black Country businesses recruiting, there is also a benefit of this package, with work placements being funded - trying before buying! Our fraternity of Black Country business now offer work placements to both UK people looking to start employment and to interns coming for three months from Europe.
If you are interested in funded training for your staff, or wish to offer work placements for either Black Country job seekers or EU interns, call “Skills Broker” on 01902 837402
I chose the name ‘Gecko’ because of its agility, and ‘Programmes’ because we like to put all the pieces together to create a very special offer for businesses and people.Pat Cross, Managing Director Gecko Programmes
